How to Design a Creative Logo

Nike, Apple, or Twitter logos were not created out of the blue. Rigorous design process was followed to come up with the logo that would represent the business. The elements of logos, such as, color, font type, and image are never same for the businesses even if they belong to the same industry. A color, font, design or even strategy that had worked for your competitor may not necessarily work for you as your business objective are different from your competitor. Other underlying factors are involved in creating an everlasting logo.

Below given steps are followed to identify and incorporate those factors in the logo.

Getting the Design Brief
It is the first, and most crucial, step in designing a logo. The design brief contains all the information and requirements of the business. This gives the initial idea of the business, its target audience, and the industry it belongs to. It also focuses on the outcomes that the logo design should achieve.

In addition, design brief also contains information such as the specification of the design, budget, and the deadline for the project.

Thorough Research
Once the designer has gone through the design brief, he/she will research about your industry, market, and business. He will also review the history of your organization and learn more your competitors. Other than the information, designers also look for common images that are used in your business. This helps a designer to
set the approach and attitude of the logo.
Rather than copying similar images, the designers tend to find trends and techniques that are not only new but also successful in the field.

Sketching the Rough Draft
In this step, the designer utilizes the information gathered through research. It is a creative step in which the designer gives visual representation to his ideas. The designer draws multiple images to come up with a suitable logo.

These sketches are not only to improve aesthetics but also to add a greater meaning to the image so that the logo can have a bigger impact. Dozens of sketches are drawn to decide one that truly represents your brand.

Digitalize the Designs
Once the design is finalized, the designer then converts the sketches into a digital image so that the client can have a clear idea what the logo would look like. Vector images are created as they are easy to resize without affecting the quality of the image.

Delivering the Final Draft
In this step, the designer hands over the final draft of the approved logo design. He also gives out other file formats of the logo so that the client can use it on various marketing material. Other than that, copyrights are also issued to the client. This is the final step in which the project is closed after deliverables are given.
